15 Ways to Decorate for Christmas on a Budget

Decorating for Christmas on a Budget IS possible! Read on for inexpensive Christmas decor ideas!

Do you ever walk into a store and feel overwhelmed with the sheer QUANTITY  of goods that are available?  You go in for one or two things and think “My word, do people really buy all the things??”  I don’t watch t.v., but I imagine seeing so many commercials can make a person feel like they are the only one who doesn’t have the latest and the greatest of everything.   And let’s not even go there with social media these days.

I know in my line of work I am constantly studying and relaying the latest in home design. But, I always want people to  keep it in perspective, home design is a beautiful art form for those that love it, but it will never fill our deepest longings.  We were made to know and love Jesus and to be satisfied by Him.

So, if you are feeling less than this season because you aren’t able to spend any money on decorations, know that you are not alone and that the Savior’s birth is enough to fill your heart to overflowing.  As for creating festivity within your four walls, it can be done with little to no money and a little thoughtfulness.

There have been years in my life where our entire Christmas budget was a big, fat goose egg!  We had NO EXTRA MONEY to work with and I used most of the ideas from the list below.

Use what works for you and be blessed, my friend.

  • Check the thrift stores– people donate a ton of Christmas decor each year and you can find some real gems for a few dollars.
  • Bring nature inside-  some examples would be wood slices, pinecones, berries, antlers and evergreens. Even bare branches painted white or gold are beautiful.
  • Winter clothing- Think rain boots, hats and scarves, cute coats
