Before we get started, I want to mention that this post is part of a Spring Blog Hop with five of my favorite bloggers, see below, so be sure to stop by at each house for some beautiful ideas!
This room you may recognize as our Fireside Room. Originally, the room was used as a dining room for the family of nine that lived here in 1906. When we bought the place, the plan was to do an addition and use this room as our fireseide room. Our only source of heat, the wood stove, is positioned in the corner here.
But, time has marched on we still don’t have any kind of dining room- eight years later.
So, I thought it was high time that we try life with a real table that our whole family can sit around for dinner.
That leads me to the topic of this blog post. I used 3 ways to quickly refresh this room for spring, but the concepts can be applied any time to any room for any season.
3 Quick Room Refresh Ideas
Once you select your room to refresh, you can . . .
Idea One
Choose one large piece of furniture or even a wall to change the color of. We decided to pull an old table out our shop and give it a coat of white paint.
idea Two
Clear off one wall or section of a wall completely. I finally took down our gallery wall for this refresh. This the perfect time to patch nail holes and do some touch up painting.
I replaced the wall decor with some simpler pieces that made me think of spring. The grainsack wall hanging I made for my daughter in the DIY Farmhouse Gift Ideas post.
Idea three
This one is my favorite! Shop your house for small pieces of furniture, you can get a ton of mileage out of these by floating them from room to room. I pulled two white chairs from the living room, you may recognize them from Reupholstering an Antique Chair.
The church pew is off our front porch and the two bistro chairs are off the back porch. Once I had the “new” furniture in place, I just added pillows to soften the whole look.
So, even if you feel like it is not in your budget to make drastic changes to a room, you can try these 3 Quick Room Refresh Ideas and see what you end up with!

My Dear Sarah, you have created such a lovely space using what you already have and making it look completely “new” and refreshed in your dining area. I love that you now have a place to gather your family around for meals.

Great use of mis-matched items to create one cohesive space. The tufted chairs are lovely as well as the white french farmhouse table. Thanks you for posting this inspiration.
