How about a little peek into what happened in my yard that other day? It was time for a Boho Birthday Party.
Sigh. Ok, all you mamas out there, I know you understand when I say a daughter’s birthday is always “bittersweet”.
Every. time. I tell ya!
This year was no different, my firstborn turned seventeen. That’s one year away from eighteen. But, whose counting.
It was going to be a mermaid party all along, but two weeks before the big day, that idea got chucked out the window and we suddenly had a full blown Bohemian party to plan.
I’m going to take you along for the ride and maybe you will get a girls night out or shower theme idea for your next big event.
The invites are from Etsy. We changed the wording to say “Hello, Beautiful” and sent them out to all the lovely friends on our guest list.
I had some extra pallets lying around and used them to create a table on the ground in front of our house.
First, we pull all the throw rugs out fo the house and spread them on the ground. Next, came the pallets. I took down some lace curtains and garlands from Joanns. I used these like table runners down the center.
An elk head and pink roses from Costco became a super simple centerpiece. I had some beautiful, gold trimmed plates from my Narnia party and some thrifted green napkins in my stash.
I pulled every set of antlers from around my house (I have alot!) and used these with roses and Ikea plants to fill in any space I needed to spruce up.
Off to the side by the food table, I hung my new Brazilian hammock and made some oversized yard tassels just for kicks.
I hit Costco hard and got all the food in one fell swoop. On the menu were fancy pants drinks, berries, baked salmon, quinoa salad and chicken alfredo.
The girls arrived and all acted so grown up with their lovely dinner.
And then
it
started
to
RAIN!
A lot.
We all decided to pretend it wasn’t raining and my son stood with our big beach umbrella and held it open over the girls the whole time they ate. #lovethatboy
My daughter insisted on donuts and mochi instead of cake, so we moved all the soaking wet donuts inside and finished our festivities undercover.
This is my favorite picture of the night.
Finally, we settled into an evening of henna tattoos and half watching Cinderella.
I think, all in all, it was a perfectly dreamy way to enter into one’s seventeenth year of life, don’t you think?
