If you have a front porch – decorating it for Christmas is a great way to add instant impact for any guests you have through the season. And why not make it a Victorian Christmas Front porch – for added charm!
This year, our front porch is still a work in progress, but I chose not to let myself be discouraged about that, and instead aimed all of my creative efforts to our kitchen porch for this year’s Victorian Christmas inspiration!
There are some pieces of this porch that also need eventual touching up – but I can look at it and see the vision of how it will look even better than it does now when it’s finished; I hope you can, too!

I always like to make sure that I take advantage of the time when I’m changing out my seasonal decor to give my space a deep clean!
For the porch that involves clearing everything off and then sweeping the floor and any cobwebs, and washing the exteriors of the windows and anything else that needs a bit of TLC since the last seasonal swap out.
Then I start with the biggest furniture pieces as the base of my design.
This year I again pulled out my trusty wicker arm chairs from IKEA for the left side of the porch under the bathroom window.
I styled them up with my favorite faux fur throw, and a wool blanket that I thrifted.
This blanket will always be special to me because I hand sewed the crocheted edge on during the time I was visiting with my Mom in the last months of her life. It will always remind me of that time spent with her.
I also love the juxtaposition between the masculine grey wool, and the delicate cream edging.
On the right side of the door, I added in a faux wicker bench from At Home. (I can’t find a link for that exact one, but Wayfair has some that are similar that are on sale right now! This is another one that is metal. )
I tried something new and moved one of our large urns up onto the porch from where it had spent the summer & fall – next to the stairs opposite the other one in the matched set.
I think I like the asymmetrical feel of having them at different elevations.
The plaid pillow fabric was thrifted and I easily made a zippered pillow cover out of it! The materials feels very rich, almost like wool, and I love that it’s both classic and Victorian!
Even the cat enjoys a nicely decorated holiday front porch!
On the door I tried a few different wreaths and didn’t end up loving any of them. For this year, I went with a natural greenery swag with cedar boughs, vintage gold bells, and tied it off with velvet ribbon.
If you don’t have bells on hand, you can create these DIY bells with a surprising element…
I placed my round wooden table between the two IKEA chairs and accessorized it with some greenery foraged from the yard, a large lantern and a sweet white and red tea cup & saucer.
I love that the lamp matches our actual porch light which is also a lantern style.
To pull in some more red, I hung my “North Pole Post” mail box and tucked in vintage winter post card that I printed off the computer!
I originally got this mailbox at Tractor Supply years ago, but they no longer carry it. You can find similar options on Amazon like this or this.
I hope you enjoyed this year’s simple & elegant Victorian Christmas front porch!
