Are you ready for a Spring Inspired Porch Decor Tour?
One of my favorite things about this old farmhouse are the porches, three of them! One off the kitchen, one leading into the chicken yard and one wrap-around for the front. Doesn’t that give you a glimpse into life in 1906??
The front porch had a mishap a while back when the concrete became too heavy for the wooden porch it was poured over (um, what is wrong with this picture???) and a significant portion collapsed. I wasn’t home at the time, but my kids tell me it felt like an earthquake. Such is life in a fixer upper!
Truth be told, it still isn’t repaired, I think we are afraid to hear the price tag on a project like this, but nonetheless, I continue right on decorating this porch with each new season.

There are some spring decoration for this porch that I think you will love as much as I do. But, before you start on your porch decor, take a moment to think about a theme or a feel that you are going to recreate.
After deciding to recreate a garden shed scenario, I started collecting garden tools and pieces that you might find in an old green house.
Once the whole porch was cleared and swept down, I starting deciding on which larger items were going to act as my anchor pieces. I settled on the wooden bistro set I bought at IKEA last year and some large pots/ baskets.
Using round wicker baskets as planters is perfect way to bring an Old World vibe to your porch decor. You can purchase these or just hand stitch some plastic to act as a liner in a basket you already own.
Ferns were my plant of choice with their lacey, delicate leaves. You can’t go wrong with classics like these!!
Finally, after setting out a cloche, watering can, twine, boots and rake, I printed a couple of free bird printables and called it good. As long as the rain doesn’t affect your porch, I say go ahead and hang pictures to your heart’s content!
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our spring decor out on our front porch! These are the things that help make a house a home and I find that the extra effort is always appreciated by those who call this place home.
