Part Three of my Texas Retreat Recap where I share the details of visiting the Magnolia Silos!

Two weeks ago on YouTube I started this fun 3-part mini series recapping all of the details of the retreat I went on in Texas with 10 ladies from my Behind the Scenes Design Group.

It was the first retreat of it’s kind, but it certainly won’t be the last!

In part 1 of the series I shared a video on YouTube all about the gorgeous Airbnb cottage we rented for the week.

Then part 2 was all about our experience shopping the huge Roundtop Antique Fair.

This final week is all about visiting the Magnolia Silos in Waco, TX.

As a sneak peak about the rest of this post is going to go, I’m already looking forward to when I’ll get to go back; it’s that good.

I’ll share a summary of where we went, and the insider tips we learned during our trip!

Visiting Magnolia Table

We knew far in advance that we wanted to eat at Magnolia Table when we were in Waco because we’d only ever heard good things.

We went online 28 days in advance and reservations were already sold out! We later learned that the dates are opened exactly 30 days in advance, and they usually sell out within 12 hours of being added to the website.

So learn from our rookie mistake, set a reminder in your calendar, and make sure you pop online exactly 30 days before your reservation date to get your name added to the list!

Luckily, hope is not all lost without a reservation, because they leave plenty of room for walk-ins. We stopped there first after we arrived and got our names on the list and it was a 45 minute wait.

I know that’s not terrible as far as restaurant industry standards, BUT I’ll say that in the future, I would still recommend getting the actual reservation, because those 45 minutes could be far better spent at a number of other places!

Get your name on the list ahead of time, so you can enjoy the great food, and then get back out to exploring!

The food was absolutely amazing, and I was really shocked at the prices! You can tell it’s clearly a goal of theirs to keep their prices low.

One of the ladies in our group got an amazing breakfast burrito for only $4.50. Right?!

The service was as great as the prices. There’s lovely community seating that had no problem fitting our large group, and our server was happy to split our check for us.

Our top three suggested foods to try:

• The lavender donut holes
• Lavender Lattes
• Breakfast Taco (my personal favorite)

The exterior of the building is lovely as well, with beautiful European inspired design, and an abundance of great seating options.

There’s a giftshop on the back end of Magnolia table that also has great outdoor seating and some really fun items inside. I left with a sweet vintage style brown paper sack of dog treat biscuits, and some beautiful wooden recipe cards.

After we were done eating & exploring, we hopped in the car for a 10 minute drive to the Silos!

The Magnolia Silos

Ah. What an experience! There is A LOT going on at the Silos, and honestly, it feels a little bit like Disney land for adults!

They’ve absolutely nailed the “park” atmosphere, and it feels like a place you’d bring your children and your dog for a picnic lunch.

Here are just some of the things you can see and experience there:

• Magnolia Market – Amazing Gift Store
• Silos Baking Co – Bakery
• Faux Grass – Park Area
• Lots of great seating
• Gardens
• Greenhouse
• Seed & Supply Store
• Magnolia Press – Coffee Shop
• Amazing Food Trucks
• A Ball Park (I’m serious!)
• Church – This was moved to the Silos and renovated! I wonder if it’s often used as a wedding venue?
• Shops at the Silos – Cottages with artisans selling their items
• Home Store – a Posh Ikea showroom

I was so impressed by the experience of it all. There were these sweet little areas tucked away that were quiet, expertly styled pockets just to see and be inspired by.

I knew going into this trip that it would be awesome and beautiful, but what I wasn’t quite expecting was the spirit of the whole place!

It gave me a whole other level of respect for Chip & Jo as they’re really out to change the business industry side of things.

You could tell by the employee morale at each of the shops we visited, and the outstanding customer service they’ve built into their culture.

I purchased some cute black boxes and at the register the clerk noticed an imperfection on one and took the initiative to get it swapped out for the best version they had in stock. That’s completely above and beyond and really impressed me.

It makes me want to be more like that in the interior design industry! To raise the bar and build other people up while changing the status quo.

But That’s not All…

In addition to our lovely time at Magnolia, we got the chance to stop at two other local spots in McGregor, TX (about 15 miles away) that I highly recommend!

The first was the Cedar Chest Antique Mall. This place was fantastic! It’s no wonder that Joanna herself likes to shop here! I would say to give yourself about 2 hours to get through the entire place. There was really great variety and good prices.

After we swung in there, we ended the day at Fox’s Treats & Eats. It was a cute mom & pop shop with home made breads, sandwiches and lots of pies & desserts.

Definitely a good way to end the day!

Other Sights to See in Waco:

The Waco portion of our trip was just a 1 day adventure from our rental house about 1.5 hours away, so other than seeing all Magnolia had to offer, and the Cedar Chest, we did not get a chance to visit more of what Waco locals are most proud of! I’ve started compiling a list of suggestions I’m receiving in the comments (here and on YouTube) so the next time I visit (and there will be a next time), I’ll get to see even more of these great places!
