I love the velvet pumpkins. Purchased velvet last year and yellow and white bandanas to make my own pumpkins also fiberfill and white beans i.e., have all “ingredients ” for these adorable fall items, now to “Just Do It.” I am a retired middle school social studies and language arts teacher, but I love useful art and crafts. I now spend time volunteering at a local veterans center and a local hospital and keeping up with two younger sisters and my canine niece Stella Rose,a very sweet Welsh terrier. I also spend time reading blogs with the iPad. Enjoy yours.

I feel a kindred spirit with the things you discuss and create. I too love to “hold dearly” things that matter..things of significant importance. I seem to have the urge to “stop and smell the roses,” and stop and pick a few to share along the way. Loving God, family, and others brings joy to my heart.

Your farmhouse is beautiful! It’s not like every other blog where their farmhouse is so cookie cutter! I like the Victorian farmhouse style you portray on your blog. Keep it up!

My favorite is your master bath. I love it all; the cast iron “toilette” sign, the gorgeous door knob, the frosted window in the door, the transom, the fabulous vanity and sink – I love it all!

I’m charmed by the respect you give the past, impressed with the creative ways in which you upcycle or reinvent things like lace, doilies and your displays of textiles and other mundane household objects. I don’t actually decorate in farmhouse these days, I did in the 70s and 80s and I still love the look plus I’m enamored with vintage architecture and country life. I have amassed a large collection of vintage and antique things over the decades and you give me fresh ideas for using them.

Honestly, YOU! You, set she hold dearly apart! Your beautiful, encouraging, and uplifting spirit transends into the words on the pages, and the pure loveliness of every photograph. I have been so blessed by your recipes, pretty parties, thrifting tips, gorgeous home decor, and gardening strategies… all bundles together with your sweet slow it down and enjoy the now philosophy. You truly inspire me. I am overwhelmed by the beauty of your farmhouse. Your ” Anne” house! I remember when the Lord first revealed it to you, and your dream was coming true! You could invision it then and… wow! I feel honored to have been up those gorgeous stairs of yours myself. To see what YOU have done is beyond fabulous. I see you in every special detail, each romantic, lovely, thoughtful, and timeless touch. For me…the answer is YOU!

There are so many things I love out about your style-the fact that you don’t chalk paint every stick of furniture, burlap/drop cloth slipcover everything, and of course your family values, but I so relate to your love of old things and renovating rather than some of the other sad remuddling out there in in the land of blogging. What you do feels “real” to me. Thank you for sharing of yourself.

Your creativity inspires me! I found you because of your idea to repurpose vintage linens. My grandparents and their siblings came from Italy. I remember watching my great aunt crocheting – her fingers moved so fast! I have many of her pillow cases and table runners and am very excited to try making night dresses for my granddaughter! What a delightful way to hand down the things she loved so!! Many blessings to you for sharing.

  25. October 23, 2016 / 5:19 PM

I appreciate your sincerity and your modesty.
You are very genuine and welcoming in your blog and share the real way things get done by a family, instead of “perfection “. A sense of harmony pervades your space and I think it comes from the joy of a life lived in Faith.

This is a hard contest, Sarah. I’m not sure I could pick just one favorite thing about She Holds Desrly (love the name by the way) but if I had to, truly had to, I’d have to say I love that the lovely, godly woman who shines through all the beautifully posted pictures and writings on your blog, is the same lovely, godly woman I know and love.

  31. October 24, 2016 / 7:09 AM

We stay on your blog because you should design them! It’s beautiful, functional and you know to use black font instead of grey, which drives me nuts! I have a HD computer screen and the whitish glare makes it hard to read really small font or light colored font too. Plus you take stunning pictures!
